I Am Amie Bass

Updated: Feb 27, 2022

To those who have never been here before, welcome, and to those revisiting, nice to see you again! Today I am thrilled to be sharing my interview with Amie Bass to you all today! For those of us who know Amie, we are aware of the incredible person she is; deeming her more than worthy of this feature, so I hope everyone reading enjoys it!

Amie graduated from Middlesex High School, and from there she tried community college. During that first semester she realized it was not the path for her, and took her education to a trade school for help desk, where she got licensed for help desk work. She is currently an insurance agent at Chubb Insurance, where she works with existing clients to add more items to their insurance policies. She has been there for about 16 years now, but is now looking for a career change.

During our conversation, Amie explained to me that this process of changing gears has been one of the toughest things to get through for her. As we spoke she explained how it has been challenging for her to even accept that she is no longer content with her career and it’s been hard for her to embrace that she has found another calling. I found that this part of our conversation really resonated with me because I find myself upon a big change too and it can be hard accepting that life has other plans for us. I wanted to highlight this feeling of uneasiness because I think at some point in our lives we have or will all go through it. It is ok to not follow the plan, it is ok to not be sure about what will happen next, I believe life has a plan for us and sometimes we just have to follow blindly. For those reading in a similar circumstance as Amie, know that everything will work out as it should, and don’t give up.

When asked Amie attributed her greatest achievement to the wonderful family she has. She said how she does get satisfaction from getting a raise or promotion at work, or developing herself, but there is no better feeling than coming home to a loving and supportive family to share her achievements with. She explained how it is so nice to have built a small empire of her own, and she was a little speechless on how to explain the amazing feeling it brought her.

If given the chance to change one thing in the world Amie would change all the leaders within the world, not just our president, but all the leaders across the different countries. She would put new leaders in charge who would lead the world in a less political way. She says she feels as though we need a change, a change we haven’t seen yet. She believes that with more compassionate and humanitarian leaders in charge, we will start to see a much needed shift within our communities and everyday lives. I have to say, this was not an answer I was expecting when I asked it but I think it was a much needed answer to include. She feels as though society has been taught to do things, the same way they have been done in the past, but this ideology is not suiting humanity very well. Another key point we touched was teaching people in general how to be in better touch with their mental/ emotional states of mind. For so long men and women have been taught in different ways that being emotional is not acceptable or tolerated in society. However, it has been proven that in order to be your best self your mental, emotional, and physical health are all equally important and taking care of each of those parts is crucial to survival. So let's all take a step forward with ourselves and nurture whatever emotional/ mental/ physical part of ourselves we are neglecting!

Before I wrap this article up, a super shoutout goes to Amie’s dad who always supported her through all the ups and downs. He is no longer with her in physical form, but always there spiritually and he deserves some recognition for his undying love and support for his daughter!
